YARINA (which means "remembrance"in the native Quichua language of the Incas) was originally founded in Ecuador by four brothers. The pure and hauntingly beautiful music of the Andes captivates all ages and audiences, while their imaginative repertoire incorporating jazz, blues, Latin and western classical masterpieces serves to surprise and delight the most jaded of listeners. Introducing audiences to traditional Andean instruments and songs (as well as a few vocabulary words) is an integral part of Yarina's school program, and part of the group's mission to preserve their cultural heritage.
