The Learning Safari of Leesburg Animal Park presents programs that feature exotic animals to teach students about animals and their ecosystems. Students learn about the habits and habitats of various animals, how they are equipped to survive, and their relationships to humans, with no bars or cages between the animals and the audience. Presentations by experienced environmental educators and wildlife experts are age appropriate and allow for hands-on learning.
Diversity Detectives (K-12) Presented as a "reality" game show, Diversity Detectives explores the vast variety of species and reinforces the fact that preserving biodiversity is at the root of all wildlife and habitat conservation efforts. Audience volunteers will be contestants in a bid to be designated A.C.E. (Animal Classification Expert) detectives. Survival Strategies (K-12) is a presentation using live reptiles, birds, and mammals to demonstrate the specialized adaptations developed in the areas of feeding, locomotion, and self-defense. The Living Rainforest (K-12) introduces students to the fascinating and vanishing world of tropical rain forests. The program also includes slides and/or videos of rain forests, a question and answer session, and the opportunity for students to recreate a rain forest thunderstorm. |
