Folger Shakespeare Library

Category

History, Poetry, Theatre Arts

Program Type

High School Assemblies, Middle School Assemblies, Elementary School Assemblies, Workshops, Residencies, Family Concerts

Subject Areas

Bill's Buddies is an ensemble of professional actors from the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. The Buddies have brought Shakespeare to students for the past 16 years, bringing the Bard's works to life for all kinds of kids-novice to fans alike.

The Buddies perform lively scenes from the most familiar Shakespeare plays such as Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream. They also present exciting tidbits from lesser known works, such as King John or Henry VI, part I. Performances get the students up on stage and into Shakespeare's language.

Audiences are encouraged to participate. In interactive pre-performance workshops of up to 50 participants, students are encouraged to speak, to act, and to play.
