Drawing from his African-American heritage, Eshu Bumpus brings to schools his storytelling performances and writing workshops in residencies that will enrich the curriculum in Literature, Creative Writing, Social Studies, and History. Eshu's programs feature old world folktales, African chants, and African-American folktales. Schools can choose from a variety of residencies and workshops to make a visit with Eshu one to remember.

Stories from Around the World (K-5) Includes a variety of African, African-American, and world folktales, leavened with music, humor and mystery. Animals play a large part in these stories and poke fun at human nature. Eshu's rich musical vocalizations and mastery of physical characterization enhance the stories. Each performance is age appropriate and students participate by singing songs associated with each story.

Folktales from Asia and Africa (K-5) Eshu is joined by Motoko Maeda Dworkin for a multicultural program of stories, participatory songs and movement. Motoko tells tales from Japan, China, Korea, and Southeast Asia, as well as original stories combined with songs and mime.

Storywriting/Storytelling Workshop (1-12) This workshop is designed to raise competence in creative story writing, adaptation and storytelling. Participants hone skills by playing a variety of story-games and learn several effective techniques for creating and analyzing stories.
