Poetry Alive! has been presenting high-energy poetry shows for audiences of all ages in the bardic tradition of long ago. In order to bring poetry from the page to the stage, Poetry Alive! presents verse as theater, transforming the poems into scripts and the audience members into fellow actors. The result is a non-stop tour de force of words with a twist of sorrow, a dash of silliness and every emotion in between.
The Poetry Alive! performance is an interactive experience that gets students excited about poetry and the spoken word. A program includes 15-20 poems selected according to audience grade level.
Classroom Workshops of up to 35 students can accompany an assembly program. These sessions include coaching on memorization and performance and conclude with a question and answer period.
In-Service Teacher Workshops are offered and discuss using Poetry Alive! methods for poem performances and study in the classroom.
