Folk singer, songwriter, and storyteller all describe Bill Wellington. For over 25 years he has delighted audiences with his zany sense of humor, his enthusiasm for folk music, and his amazing variety of voices. In his assembly programs, his goal is to impart a love of language and learning to all of his listeners.
Radio Woof (K-5) WOOF stands for WOrld Of Folklore. Set to the tune of the banjo, fiddle, guitar and Irish flute, Radio WOOF shows children that folklore is everywhere. Jump-rope rhymes, knock-knock jokes, riddles, and roses-are-red poems are examples of how the world of children is filled with folklore. Bill shows children that by participating in folklore they are connected to kids all over in a network of knowledge. They also see the creative use of language at work in folklore and learn that it's okay to make up new rhymes, songs and stories. The One Day Wonder gives schools the opportunity to have two assembly programs and, for no extra charge, an evening family concert as well. In addition, during the day Bill will rehearse with ten students who will perform on stage with "Sir Bill" at the family concert. Bill is able to offer this unique combination by making his award-winning recordings available for sale at the evening concert. WOOF Blasts Off WOOF Blasts Off (K-5, 6-8) introduces audiences to astronomy in a musical journey through the universe. There are songs in WOOF Blasts Off! covering everything from the invention of flying machines, to spacecraft that have traveled to the edge of the solar system (Voyager). This science adventure also covers black holes, meteor impacts, weightlessness, supernovas, Earth's atmosphere, and space aliens. |
