Jazz drummer, percussionist, and composer Robert Jospe's a master of rhythmic styles including salsa, fusion, and both African and contemporary jazz. Students will discover the exciting rhythms of American and Latin American music during a school presentation of World Beat Workshop. Jospe along with drummer, composer and arranger, Kevin Davis, collaborate to demonstrate in schools the African influence in American, Central American and South American dance music.
Students are given opportunities to actively participate during the school presentation that traces the rhythmic structures of swing, rock, salsa, mambo, calypso, reggae, merengue, samba, and bossa nova to African beats. An historic background, as well as the geography of how and where these various dances developed will also be discussed.
